The Stichting Muziek Jong voor Oud (Foundation Music Young for Old) has been organizing concerts in retirement homes in Zuid Limburg (Southern Limburg) since 2007. The concerts are being played by students and recent graduates from the Conservatorium Maastricht and the Musikhochschule Aachen.

The main goal of the Stichting Muziek Jong voor Oud is to organize a beautiful concert and a nice afternoon/evening for its listeners. People living in retirement homes often have less (physical) abilities to visit such concerts outside of the home. Because the concerts are so accessible, the Stichting is contributing to getting the people out of a social isolation by enjoying this fascinating world of music with their fellow inhabitants, visitors, family, neighbourhood, workers and volunteers.

The musicians play a concert of about an hour (and a half). The repertoire is (light) classical and (popular) jazz music. The musicians have to find a good balance in choosing their repertoire. The Stichting Muziek Jong voor Oud coaches the musicians and supports them in an educative way. Looking at the audience the Stichting Muziek Jong voor Oud finds it very important that the right program is chosen. The musicians have to present and illustrate their program, which helps them to grow as stage performers and interact with their audience.
